This custom book jacket for The Mystery of the Blue Train focuses on translating the novel’s suspenseful and high-society narrative into a visually compelling cover. Set aboard a luxury train traveling from London to France, the story’s themes of mystery, wealth, and deception informed the overall direction.
To capture this atmosphere, I moved away from a literal exterior scene and instead illustrated the interior of a vintage train using simplified shapes and bold color. This approach creates a sense of intrigue while inviting the viewer to look closer. The composition extends across the full jacket, with smoke from the train connecting the front and back covers to unify the design. The final outcome balances modern abstraction with narrative detail, creating a cover that reflects the novel’s dramatic tension and elegance.
